I want to add to that. This plugin can display IP locations, and all major social media outlets operating in the People’s Republic of China are currently required to display the IP locations of their users. Individual forums are not mandated to display IP locations at this time.

I don’t know if other countries (except the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) have similar requirements. As far as the mainstream social media in the West is concerned, there seems to be no mandatory requirement to display IP locations in other countries.

However, CloudFlare’s CDN makes it impossible for FreeFlarum’s forum to obtain the real IP address, which makes the FofGeoIP extension display the wrong IP location.
