Problems that affect the forum's appearance in search engine results

I don’t know if this can be classified as a problem that can be solved by me or if it requires internal work to solve it.

In general, this is about structured data for profile and Q&A pages.

Let’s take Google search as an example
When examining a profile page link or a Q&A page in Google Search Console, problems are detected on these pages. The details are as follows

ProfilePage (critical)

[Invalid items are not eligible for Google Search’s rich results.]

There seems to be a missing field, which means “The person or organization that this profile page is about. This indicates that the primary focus of this page is information about this entity.”

Google documents on the subject state the following: Try to use the correct type if that information is available (meaning, if you know whether the page represents an individual or an organization); otherwise, default to Person (for example, if it’s an unknown type of account).

QAPage (non-critical)

[Invalid items are not eligible to appear in full in Google rich search results.]

Google documents on the subject state the following: A link to a web page that uniquely identifies the author of the question, most likely a profile page of the Q&A website. We recommend marking up that page using profile page structured data.

Please, is there anything that can be done to solve this problem.

medelinor the former is related to the SEO extension, please submit feedback in this PR: https://github.com/v17development/flarum-seo/pull/90, which is not merged yet

The latter is also likely related to SEO, see https://github.com/v17development/flarum-seo/blob/c80eb6144bd341c4e05ba4a9feb2259650c4efae/src/Managers/QADiscussion.php#L141. You should create a new issue at https://github.com/v17development/flarum-seo/issues, as I haven’t been able to find any existing ones related to this(?)

From what I understand from the post there, it seems that they have added the field to the extension. Unfortunately, it seems that the extension is not listed in the extensions list yet. I think I will post a request to add it.

As for the second suggestion, it seems to be related to the same extension, which means that I should first get the extension and try it and then submit this suggestion.

Yes, I use this extension (v17development/flarum-seo), and for some reason, I thought it was related to another extension.
I am facing this problem even though I am using this extension.

The SEO extension is already available at FreeFlarum, I assumed that you are using it. Is it not listed at https://freeflarum.com/extensions, is that what you meant?

medelinor well, the first issue has already an open PR (e. g.: it was fixed, but the fix wasn’t incorporated in the extension yet). You can express your interest in getting this issue resolved for a chance that the fix will be applied sooner (by commenting or reacting on the PR)

As for the second issue, I haven’t found any open issue or PR regarding it. Therefore, you should let the SEO extension’s author know about this by opening a new issue, so that it can be fixed in the future.

In other words, these two issues are likely entirely related to that extension and there is not much I can do to help you fully fix this at the moment, sorry.
