Help enabling FoF Formatting extension - or other option - for accessibility

Hi FreeFlarum Team,
I am running a forum at flarum.cloud (https://justonestep.flarum.cloud/).

I am trying to set things up to help a user with dyslexia who prefers to speak rather than write. They want to be able to record a video on their phone and add it to a discussion rather than write a message.

I am not very technically minded, so I need the setup to be as simple and easy as possible.

Right now, the “Embed Video” extension is too complicated because it forces users to type out code tags.

Could you please help me enable the FoF Formatting extension on my site? I understand this extension will let my user simply paste a plain video link (like YouTube) directly into a post without needing to type any code. Alternatively, perhaps you can suggest another simple alternative? Or let me know if this isn’t possible at all.

Kezza001 in my opinion, FoF Formatting is the best option here. Enable it in your admin panel and make sure the “MediaEmbed” option is toggled, which is what allows something like https://youtube.com/… to convert into an actual playable video:

You could also enable FoF Upload and configure it with this pattern to allow uploading video files directly on your forum: ^video\/(3gpp|mp4|mpeg|quicktime|webm)$, like so:

However, with HD videos, you might quickly run out of the free 500 MB local upload quota FreeFlarum allows for non-donors, so using some third-party service like YouTube is probably better in your case

Thanks for this. I don’t have the FoF Formatting extension on my panel. If I understand correctly (sorry - I’m really not technically minded anymore so this is probably a super-basic question), it would be best for me to have my user host his videos somewhere else and just post the link? I just want to be sure I can give him the best possible instructions to make it easy for him (he is more technically challenged than me)…
