FF won't save any posts

Am setting up https://birdbrains.freeflarum.com and have several issues so i’ll do separate posts.

I can’t get FF to save any of the posts that i’ve written. I hit SAVE or POST, go back to the home page and there’s no post? What am I doing wrong?

( I have BBCode More New, Blogs, Categories, Colored Usernames, Composer page, Custom Header, FOF Upload, Online, Private Messages, Rich Text, Scroll Buttons enabled and Approval & hCaptcha disabled)

laffin_boy there are no server logs that would indicate that there is an issue with submitting the posts. I was able to create a test discussion too, here

Are there any errors when you attempt to submit the post? How are you submitting them, exactly (e. g. click on “Start Discussion”, write title and body, select tags and then hit “Post Discussion”)?

Ok I see your test posts and now I was able to successfully post one. Don’t know what changed.

But I also have the “Blog” extension enabled and that still won’t save any posts. I’ve tried adding a Tag title and also bypassing tagging but neither one results in a saved post.

laffin_boy it seems that you must mark at least 1 tag as a blog tag in your settings > extensions > Blog:

Ok, using the TAGS extension I created a new category (“Selected Writings”) and on the BLOGS extension I assigned that category. Then wrote another test post, assigned it the “Selected Writings” tag & saved it .

But after refreshing the main page there was no post.

laffin_boy I enabled the SEO extension, which helped (I was able to submit a blog post here). It appears that the Blog extension requires a table that is added by that extension it in order to function properly (I have reported the issue here). Creating blog posts should work now, can you please check?

OK I built a new Blog post & saved it to “Selected Writings”. The following error popped up:

and the file was not saved. In case it helps: I did add an image to the test posting that I had successfully uploaded from my computer.

also note that viewing the test posts you placed from the blog page also throws up that same error message.

laffin_boy I think it’s something with your browser’s configuration, as I didn’t get that error and there are no server logs either (for example, if you are using a browser extension that blocks some JS, etc…).

It would be helpful to see the browser console for detailed error messages, if you are able to provide that it would be great. Or alternatively, try it on another device/browser to see if it’s really something with the browser and not FF’s server or Flarum.

Also, just to confirm, you’re using https://birdbrains.freeflarum.com to access your forum, and not https://birdbrains.flarum.cloud

I’m afraid I don’t know what you mean by the “browser console”

I’m using a relatively up-to-date version of Vivaldi (Chrome variant). As a browser test I logged out of birdbrains.freeflarum.com in Vivaldi and logged into the site using a fully up-to-date version of LibreFox (Firefox variant).
I got the error message I posted in LibreFox as soon as I logged in. Tried a Blog post but no dice. It displayed the error message after attempting to post.

laffin_boy I’m afraid I can’t reproduce the issue, on my side I am just always able to send the post with no error. Sorry…

Perhaps you can try asking on the official Flarum forum for help, as someone might know more about why this is happening? https://discuss.flarum.org

Thanks for your efforts.

I bypassed the problem by disabling “Blog” (& SEO extension) and writing directly to the folder that all Blog writing got dumped into. Duh! Now post are saved properly.

I have a few other questions but will start a new thread…
