Information about Free Flarum Cloud Server Specs

Hi there,

I would like to know the specifications of the servers used in Flarum Cloud’s free hosting (CPU, RAM, storage, and bandwidth).

Currently, my forum has around 1,300 registered users, with up to 120 users logged in simultaneously during peak hours. Beyond that, the forum starts to slow down or experience lag.

Once I migrate the forum to my own VPS and reopen registrations, the number of users will increase significantly, as many former members of the Pandlr.com forum will join. Some topics, such as “Grammy,” “Oscars,” and “VMA,” can easily reach over 5,000 replies. I expect to have around 400 simultaneous users normally, and over 1,000 during special events like live streams, elections, and similar occasions.

This information will help me better estimate the resources I’ll need for optimal performance.

IMO the specs that FreeFlarum uses is a bit overkill in your case, I think your forum and expected activity will do fine with 8 GB and optimal server config for performance

SKevo Besides RAM and storage, any idea of how many cores will be needed? This is a screenshot of roughly what will happen in the forum threads. Users almost always post comments with GIFs (the GIFs won’t be hosted on the server; they’ll just post the link, which will be automatically embedded)

zannauvoak FreeFlarum currently has 8 core Ampere shared CPU, I imagine 2 - 4 is enough for a single forum since that’s what you would get for the 8 GB and 4 GB RAM plan on Hetzner respectively. If not, you can always scale later?
