• Issue
  • Unable to access the flarum.cloud forum

My forum URL is https://145hub.flarum.cloud

I can’t access the forum with flarum.cloud as the domain name. It prompts me that “网络连接错误” is translated as a network connection error.
But I can visit freeflarum.com as the domain name forum, which is strange.

I tried to change the domain name to 145hub.freeflarum.com.
It worked, but I lost the domain name of flarum.cloud.
I need the administrator to fix it as soon as possible, so that I can use the flarum.cloud domain name.

14569 I’ve changed the domain back to flarum.cloud, please let me know if it worked.

SKevo When the domain name is changed back, it shows “network connection error” again.
And I found that this problem occurs in all forums using the flarum.cloud domain name.
For example: https://145hub.flarum.cloud, https://xiaobaiforum.flarum.cloud, they can’t access it.
I’m not sure if this is the reason for the domain name or the server or cloudflare or my own reason.

14569 are you sure that the problem is not on your end? I can access all of the above forums with no problem at the moment

SKevo I’m not sure. I used the iOS Edge to access the forum in mainland China.
I also encountered a particularly strange phenomenon, that is, I can visit https://block.freeflarum.com.
At present, I can only use freeflarum.com as my forum domain name.

14569 could you please try accessing your forum with different browser/device/IP and see if the issue persists? I would like to rule out the possibility of your browser acting up (browser extensions, cache, etc…). Also, since your userbase is likely from China too, are they able to access the forum, or does the issue only happen on your end?

SKevo I tried to access it in other ways, but I still can’t access the forum, but my friends can.I don’t know what happened.

              I’m curious why I can’t access flarum.cloud but freeflarum.com.

I met the same problem. Accessing forums using flarum.cloud as the domain name in mainland China will be refused, while there’s nothing wrong with accessing forums whose domain name is freeflarum.com.
I changed my IP and when my IP is changed, I can access them.

14569 I currently know just as much as you do, unfortunately. The fact that only a few people can’t access it, but the rest can, makes it very hard to debug properly.

Kotoki I met the same problem. Accessing forums using flarum.cloud as the domain name in mainland China will be refused, while there’s nothing wrong with accessing forums whose domain name is freeflarum.com.
I changed my IP and when my IP is changed, I can access them.

Thank you for your input! If I had to guess, I would say that either Cloudflare has some kind of temporary outage or the flarum.cloud domain was blocked in China.

The most I can do is investigate server logs for clues about whether this might be happening, however if it was caused by something other than FreeFlarum itself, I unfortunately can’t do much about it. I will proceed to check the server logs now, and let you guys know if I found anything

My forum (xiaobaiforum.flarum.cloud) is the same, when I visit with other brands of browsers, there is an 80% chance of prompting a network connection error, the same is true with Edge, but accessing *.freeflarum.com will work fine

I haven’t been able to figure out what causes the issue yet. My assumption is that the flarum.cloud domain is not blocked by the Great Firewall, however Cloudflare’s setup somehow blocks it. It is possible that freeflarum.com has some configuration setting different from flarum.cloud, which creates inconsistency and would explain why freeflarum.com can be accessed properly and flarum.cloud not.

🕹️ Now I have a solution: don’t use flarum.cloud domain name, change to freeflarum.com domain name, how to do?

Login to your freeflarum administration, select “custom domain”, if your domain name is *.flarum.cloud, please change to *.freeflarum.com.

Great Firewall is blocking flarum.cloud. If I use proxy, access to flarum.cloud will come normal.
